Explore Northern Norway

Mosjøen is the oldest town in the Helgeland area. The small town is the perfect base for visitors who want to explore this beautiful area, both inland and out on the coast.

We strongly recommend the town’s oldest hotel, which is an attraction in itself. Fru Haugans Hotel has offered a warm welcome to visitors since 1794 and has a delightful location on the banks of the Vesna river.

Mosjøen is a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts. The town is close to the coast and can offer exciting deep-sea fishing in addition to more than one thousand fishing lakes and rivers nearby. You can book guides to take you to the best fishing spots.

Bjørgefjell National Park is home to Golvertind at a height of 1,682 metres providing breathtaking views of the entire National Park, and well worth the climb.

Back in Mosjøen, visitors must not miss out on a stroll down Sjøgata. This street has the longest row of 19th century wooden buildings in North Norway.  You can pass the time strolling around the narrow alleys, past old wooden buildings and wharves. Pay a visit to Kulturverkstedet for a cup of coffee and home-made griddle cake (lefse) with local cheese (gomle), or stop off at the local pub to try their home brew.

The Helgeland coast is a true adventure with so much to offer. Welcome to Mosjøen!
